Floods
Pune, like many rapidly urbanising Indian cities, faces recurring urban flooding due to intense rainfall events, riverine overflow (Mula–Mutha), hill-slope runoff, encroachment on natural drains, inadequate stormwater infrastructure, and climate change–driven extremes. While Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has technical plans and early warning mechanisms, risk awareness and preparedness among school-going children and communities remain limited.
Students designed serious games and playful physical/digital toys that translate complex urban flooding concepts into age-appropriate, curriculum-aligned learning experiences for school students (Classes 8–12), while also generating insights and artefacts useful for local disaster risk reduction (DRR) efforts of PMC.
